the night goes on
reading up on culture shock, wondering if that was me and still is.
trying to stop thinking about the student who told me my class was boring--to see that maybe her upbringing has something to do with why she feels comfortable making a new teacher feel even more insecure about her teaching. trying not to take it personally. trying to stop thinking about how i haven't successfully taught very many students anything about english this term. trying to stop worrying about tomorrow--when there are only so many tomorrows left and tomorrow will worry about itself. right, jesus? trying to remember that two weeks isn't so long. trying to obey god's command to "be strong and courageous," and to remember his faithfulness. trying to rest in the knowledge of him and what he has done.
