don't look down

I don't even know the name of this song, but it's one that I've grown up hearing my dad sing and play on the guitar. During the Christmas break, my dad had copied onto cds some of the audio tapes that were made while my parents were missionaries in Kenya and some from other times and by others. Anyway, I got a stack of 7 disks and there's a lot of music with my parents and sometimes sister singing, which is very nice for me to listen to while now homesick and unhappy to be back here to work. I need to be reminded to fix my eyes on Jesus and worship Him with my life and, yes, the grading.

Lyrics from one of my favorites--if only you could hear it--

Late one evening, some men riding a boat looked out across the lake,
Saw a man walking on the water.
When he drew near, he said to them,
"Don't be afraid cause I'm your friend."
They recognized him and Peter went out to meet him.

And he said, "Don't look down, Peter, don't look at the sea.
Take your eyes off of this world and fix your eyes on me.
Don't look down, Peter, don't look at the sea.
Take your eyes off of this world and fix your eyes on me."

Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water toward the Lord.
When he realized what he was doing, he was afraid.
When he saw the wind and the waves all around him,
he cried out to Jesus,
"Lord, help me! I'm sinking!"

Jesus took his hand and he said,
"Don't look down, Peter. Don't look at the sea.

Take your eyes off of this world and fix your eyes on me.
Don't look down, Peter. Don't look at the sea.
Take your eyes off of this world and fix your eyes on me.

Fix your eyes on me. Fix your eyes on me..."
