nonsense poisons

Day 2 of the month of madness. The Mad Hatter suffered from mercury poisoning in Alice and Wonderland -- if you want to call it "suffering." But most everyone knows this already.

Sometimes when I drink milky, spicey coffee-drinks that have lost most of their heat, I wonder about raw eggs. I think about egg-nog and the raw eggs that are slipped into such smooth, thick drinks. I try not to think about this often, which is usually a success. But the last lukewarm sip of my coffee-tea a minute ago reminded me of raw eggs again. Of course, I know there's no raw egg in my coffee drinks... but what if there was? Would it be processed egg? If not, would it poison me subtly?

Such are the nonsensical thoughts we've no use for. There's no immunizing oneself to such poisons (food-bourne pathogens), there's no Dread Pirate Roberts to detect the novocaine powder poison that has no scent (I think was the name). And of course, other odorless, tasteless, etc. poisons exist and these are hardly viewed as poisons. I guess these depend on the person and the time. Right now, internet may be a poison (though not a deadly one). I deny that claim, however. There are others still smaller than dust.

(Still another random thought, which fits outside of this writing and outside of expectations: Could this be a sort of prose poem? I doubt it... but am still experimenting / searching to understand such poems.)

  • i think i think/wonder/worry about brown recluse spiders the way you think about raw egg in things and food bourne pathogens. once you are told about these things they tend to pop into ones mind. yes, i agree we do intertain alot of nonsensical thoughts

  • I used to eat raw eggs sometimes, and am still alive (and relatively well)! I succeed to gross most of my American born friends with this piece of information... I know they have germs in them... I don't know how they do that, but they sell non-germ eggs in Japan for the purpose of eating them raw. We don't just drink them down, but put it in some dishes to add a unique texture, you know. The texture is the very thing most people here avert to, though.
