old age (22) almost keeps me from resisting the M.S. urge
Hey, somebody's gotta stop me. Only moments ago, I almost signed myself up for a MySpace page and identity of my own. Not that it's an entirely bad endeavor--for anyone reading who happens to be taken by the MySpace movement--, I've simply adopted an aversion to the thing, it seems.
This blog represents one step downward in my state of technology/web-communication advancements; Facebook, another; and still worse, the... the... Hmmm. I guess I just dreamed that I had given myself over to something worse. My prediction on this whole state of affairs is that My Space will have another follower in less than a year... No, no!
Just imagine: another face plastered to a web-page where anyone--ANYONE--can see, find out the city of residence, and can find out whether a person has a quirky personality, or whether a person has an awful lot of dead time to beat through... Who's to prevent stalkers from creeping upon one's page? Will I be quite this vulnerable?
Somehow, I don't think vulnerable is the appropriate word.
I wonder. By the way, did you ever meet someone with the fake initials "J.G."? I had a secret admirer once who went by a pseudonym starting with those letters. Still trying to figure out who he might have been... (might be. Seriously.)
It's likely that I've judged harshly and inaccurately. Please, will anyone defend the thing before I resist my urges to " RECONNECT WITH OLD HIGHSCHOOL BUDDIES! FIND A MATCH AND FRIENDS WITH SIMILAR INTERESTS!" etc...? Don't be shy. Or, remain anonymous. Whatever.
*Oh. Don't know what MySpace is? Check it out, simply at MySpace.com.... I might be brainwashing you all, don't you know. I wasn't really quoting anything real in the above paragraph, as a matter of fact.

B Go;
I just found this blog, and have enjoyed very much your poetry. You do have a gift. By the way, I'm sure we have met (don't mean that to sound ominous!). If I'm correct, our meeting was Illuminating.
Keep up the wonderful writing.

I'm pretty sure MySpace is totally dumb. I had it once and quit. It's probably a better feeling to be able to say--in your case--that you never had it at all.

Well... it hasn't been that bad for me, though I don't use it like it's probably intended to.

to each his own, but i can tell you i love myspace! it's fun to see how people portray themselves, that is what interests me the most. i haven't opened up that much on there, and haven't taken the time necessary to really develop my own profile (you know when someone has though) but it seems very cool to me. also, it puts people (i.e. your favorite bands etc.) in much more direct contact, which i think is way cool. i don't really go for facebook, from what i've seen, it looks like...a really immature version of friendster, college-directed and lots of ppl drunk & posting pictures of themselves, like partying and college is THE life. or something. i could be totally off on that, but that is just my perception.
so after all this, guess what i'm going to do? invite you to myspace! :)
love, s.
