perplexity or bashful amusement

Hey, this is Jeff Wall's artwork:

After “Invisible Man” by Ralph Ellison, the Preface
1999-2001

My cousin, Allison, sent a postcard with this image on it a few years ago after seeing it in Germany... I had just read the Ralph Ellison book and thought it was great -- also that the artwork was great. So, here you are... for your enjoyment. I'm struggling through a paper right now and needed a diversion. If you needed a diversion as well, I hope this made you smile (either that, or I hope you tilted your head with perplexity).

Oh, yeah. Now I'm listening to "Why don't we do it in the road" from the Beatles. My, my. Doesn't that make you smile (with bashful amusement, no doubt)?

  • I've only read a part of the book in my English Lit class... That picture makes me want to read the whole thing!

  • Why Don't We Do It is Paul's favorite song that John Wrote. Or is it the other way around?

  • It's funny to see this postcard again. I can remember vividly seeing the photograph in person as well as mailing off several dozen postcards to you, family and friends - how important it was. In fact, when I bought the stamps, it was my first successful German conversation with the postal worker. A friend is reading the "Invisible Man" for class this week. I think it's about time to read it for myself.
    Happy Easter!
